Important Updates (11/28/21): 

1.Tryouts this week (week of 11/29)-

* attended by players, coaches and DHS volunteers only. No parents please.

a.Girls: Monday/Tuesday 3:00(please plan to come both days)

b.Boys: Wed/Thursday 3:00(please plan to come both days)

c.Call backs Friday/Saturday/Sunday(please plan to come all days)

** IMPORTANT NOTE:

BOYS JV MATCH vs. GREENWICH THIS THURSDAY, DEC. 2 @ 8:00PM at Ox Ridge Club. We will post the roster as tryouts progress on Wednesday and Thursday. Uniforms (Shirts) will be provided. Please make sure each player has a US Squash account. 

GIRLS JV MATCH vs.  RYE BLK THIS THURSDAY, DEC. 2 @ 8:00PM at MSquash Portchester. We will post the roster as tryouts progress on Monday and Tuesday.  Uniforms (Shirts) will be provided. Transportation to Portchester will not be provided. Please make sure each player has a US Squash account.

2.Great news! Darien High School is happy to announce that Sarah Sealy has joined as co-head coach for DHS Squash. Sarah began playing squash in high school in 1984. She played 4 years at Trinity College under Coach Wendy Bartlett. She is a longtime Darien resident and racquet sports enthusiast. She will be starting on Monday to help Coach Hugh Underhill at tryouts.

3.Due to a bus driver shortage, there is no dedicated shuttle for squash this year. Instead, all squash students may take the regular bus #24 from DHS at the regular bus depature time. This bus will stop at the Ox Ridge Club. Pick up at the end of tryouts (approximately 5pm) is at the Ox Ridge Club. 

 

4.Covid requirement- as per state of CT(CIAC) and OX Ridge policy, all players that are not fully vaccinated are required to wear a mask on and off court. Also, please note that some of the facillties and districts where we will be playing matches require vaccinations in order to play at these venues. 

5.Reminder to please get your physical info into the nurse, no players will be allowed on court until they are fully cleared by the nurse.

6. Payment for the season should now be made at https://darien.schoolcashonline.com Please note, there will be other payments requested for other events including Nationals (for those who make the team) and the end of season banquet.

• PRACTICES ARE MONDAY-FRIDAY 5:00-6:00PM AND SATURDAY 4:00-5:00PM

• PLAYERS WILL BE ASSIGNED TWO PRACTICE DAYS PER WEEK AFTER PLAYER ASSESSMENTS, ORGANIZED BY SKILL LEVEL.  PRACTICE DAYS WILL BE MONDAY/THURSDAY, TUESDAY/FRIDAY, AND WEDNESDAY/SATURDAY.  WE WILL WORK WITH PLAYERS TO ADDRESS ANY SCHEDULING CONFLICTS.  COURTS WILL BE AVAILABLE SUNDAY 4:00-5:00PM FOR MATCHES AND LADDER MATCHES ON A FIRST-COME FIRST-SERVE BASIS.

OX RIDGE SEASON GUIDELINES
 
OX RIDGE CLUBHOUSE RULES
  • Speed limit on Ox Ridge's property is 10 MPH, please drive slowly
  • Please do not approach the barn and horses
  • Please be careful when you see a rider on a horse, as not to spook the horse
  • Players are not allowed in the fitness area (on the second floor)
  • Players are not allowed in the dining room (on the first floor)
DRESS CODE & EQUIPMENT
  • Players must wear all white on the squash courts at Ox Ridge Club (colored socks and sneakers are okay)
  • Bring non-marking sneakers, squash goggles, squash racquet, towel, water bottle, and mask (unless vaccinated)
  • Wear street shoes into the clubhouse, and change into squash sneakers before getting on court

  • The Codes of Conduct exist to elevate and maintain the high standard of sportsmanship in squash competition. They have been developed to maintain enjoyment and safety at accredited events, and are aligned with US Squash values of fairness, sportsmanship, and respect.
