We recommend that each Darien Squash player have a US Squash account to track their ratings and progress. The Universal Squash Rating (USR) allows all players -- regardless of age, gender, or location -- to track their improvement over time, find other players of similar skill level, and be connected across the squash community.

Squash Rules & Etiquette

8/5/2023

CODE OF CONDUCT
  • The Codes of Conduct exist to elevate and maintain the high standard of sportsmanship in squash competition. They have been developed to maintain enjoyment and safety at accredited events, and are aligned with US Squash values of fairness, sportsmanship, and respect.
  • Review the US Squash Code of Contact here.

RULES OF SQUASH
  • All players should read the complete Rules.
  • Review the World Squash Federation Rules here.

OFFICIATING

  • Officiating is an integral part of squash at all levels and is an important area to focus on for the game to flourish both recreationally and at the professional level.
  • Starting in 2018, players must have passed the appropriate referee exam to participate in Silver, Gold, JCT, and National Championship level tournaments. Players must be certified at the age they will be at the time of the tournament; this means players need to recertify with a new referee exam every two years as they move into older age divisions. Players can find a record of all referee certifications on their US Squash player profiles under the ‘Affiliations/Certifications’ tile.
  • The full club referee exam can be found on your club locker profile. By selecting the “My Profile” page, you need to click the small right arrow ‘>’ under the renew membership section, which will allow you to scroll across to find the “Training” section. Once selecting the training tab, the correct test can be accessed by clicking on the “Full Club Referee Exam” option.
  • Completion of this exam is recommended (but not required) for play in local matches and intramural competitions not affiliated with US Squash.
